Blockchain Support Against Digital Piracy

Blockchain Support Against Digital Piracy

The new platform will support the protection of digital rights in the media and entertainment industry.  Tech Mahindra, the IT subsidiary of Indian conglomerate Mahindra Group, has launched a Blockchain-based digital contract and rights platform for the media and entertainment industry. Developed with IBM's Blockchain platform using the open source Hyperledge Fabric protocol, the system aims to help content producers effectively track their revenue and digital rights.

The platform called ‘Blockchain Based Contract and Rights Management System’ (bCRMS) will be a key tool in the fight against digital piracy. Rajesh Dhuddu, Tech Mahindra's Blockchain and cyber security practice leader, said on 9 July that the loss of revenue due to online piracy for the entertainment and media industry is projected to reach $ 50 billion by 2022. The platform will provide a secure digital rights management system that monitors the authenticity, authorised use and downloads of online content in real time. The platform will also offer content producers an automated management system for payments.  Thanks to the new system, all users will have access to the IBM open cloud ecosystem.

Tech Mahindra's Blockchain Investments

Tech Mahindra became the first Indian company to use R3's blockchain-based Marco Polo Network for international transactions in recent months. Last year, Tech Mahindra developed a blockchain-based financial management and insurance solution in cooperation with the American distributed ledger technology company Adjoint.
